Primer Task

As soon as I saw the primer task I immediately thought of one of my all time favourite YouTube videos:

Cassetteboy's best work edits newsworthy TV/radio events into something more truthful (if the person is lying) or more entertaining (if the person is not really very pleasant at all) - Nick Griffin's Question Time appearance fits both of these:

I'd like to do something similar! Maybe with audio only, I listen to a lot of Radio 4 and The Archers has infinite possibilities. I also really love those conspiracy theories where people think there are hidden messages in news broadcasts and subliminal messaging. Let's see!

Point of Sale Making

The project is going well! I'm making my point of sale - this is how I did it:

I started off with drawing my idea out and making small paper + balsa wood models.

I used this gif to explain my concept to people:

Then I set out to make something around the same size as the end product:

Here it is!

Then I began experimenting with how to hair - psa: glue stick doesn't work. The tape was good for the model but the real thing will need a glue gun!

I cut out the shapes with a band saw - here's a picture of Dad showing me how to get sharper corners:

My triangle stand was good but a little wonky at the bottom so the whole thing would wobble. So Dad used a hand saw to get a super straight line:

Now that I had cut out everything I needed to start attaching them to each other!

This thingy meant the screws would sit flat into the MDF.

Washers to keep the hands separated from the MDF, allowing space for the book to slip in.

Drilled holes in the hands - slightly stigmatic in imagery.

Everything attached!

Applied primer then used acrylic to get a flesh tone.

Painted a cute face!

The Uses of Envy Animation

I'm a huge fan of The School of Life youtube channel, and this video caught my eye in particular because of the amazing animation! The lovely, slightly lo-fi (but obviously not low skill) feel to it, the noodly arms, wobbly faces. SO GOOD.
